  I have been to Curran's twice in my lifetime, while on a trip back to the old country which I left 44 years ago.
  
  As a child, the family went on our annual holiday to Ballyhornan in the fifties and to Sunday Mass at the chapel opposite Curran's. Needless to say, at that time I did not frequent the pub but never forgot the gatherings outside it.
  
  On my first visit to it with my younger brother a few years ago, I remember having a simple but very pleasant Scampi and Chips and on the second occasion earlier this year, with my wife, we had the chowder - though I'd had chowder on several occasions in Boston, Massachusetts (renowned for its seafood and chowder), this was absolutely delicious and knocked spots off anything I 'd had before.
  
  And the service, on both occasions, was faultless.
  
  I really hope that I'll get over again in the near future - if I do, I definitely will revisit Curran's!
